Home-returning overseas Chinese who meet one of the following circumstances may fill out an application form for conscription deferments and submit it to local (town, city, district) household registration office, which shall forward it to the municipality, county (city) government for approval: | |
1. | have made an investment amounting to over NT$ 10 million (or equivalent in other currencies) in accordance with Statute For Investment By Overseas Chinese and the investment project has been proved by the competent authority. |
2. | plant managers, chief engineers, or technical specialists at overseas-funded business institutions and the qualifications have been proved by the competent authority. |
3. | positions or are financial professionals at foreign bank branches (including offices) and that the qualifications have been proved by the competent banking authorities. |
who are refused entry to residing countries or are forced to return to home country for temporary residence due to political, economic and other reasons occurring at the residing countries or fail to timely return to residing countries because of chaos caused by war. The reasons should be proved by diplomatic authorities or other authorities in charge of matters related to overseas Chinese. | |
4. | Those must deal with pending litigation and can not timely return to residing countries and the need is proved by the judicial authorities. |
5. | Within 30 days counting from the next day when the reasons for conscription deferments have vanished or the deadline has expired, those who are approved of conscription deferments shall declare so and report to the local (town, city, district) household registration office. |
